Free Pet Food for Families in Need

Save Our Pets Food Bank As the recession deepens and unemployment grows to record highs, pets are being brought into already full shelters, dumped or left behind in a foreclosed home ... many times to die.

The labor department reports that unemployment has doubled since last year and is approaching over 9% nationwide. That means over 13 million people have lost their jobs. Family budgeting is crucial and many times the $40 average monthly cost to care for and feed a pet creates the decision that the pet is too expensive to keep and has to go.

That is why we started SOPFB. Our program seeks to keep pets healthy and in their homes, thus their human companions will also thrive. We have given out over 30,000 lbs. of pet food so far.

Please review our Assistance Guidelines for eligibility. You will receive two weeks worth of food, for a three month period, picked up every other Saturday. After three months, your situation will be re-evaluated if further assistance is needed. If you have any other questions please request additional information please send an email.

Spay Neuter certificates will be given out onsite when you come to pick up your food. This will be done free for anyone living in surrounding counties of Atlanta.

Special Diets

Food will also be available for pets with special diets if we can source what is needed in time for your pick up.

A Testimonial

Success - You're the reason

"I hope with all my heart that this letter finds it's way to Ms. King. We have so much to thank you for. I would also like to share my story with you about how far the three of us have come since you entered our life. When I first met Ms. King I was almost homeless and trying to find someone to foster care my 2 dogs, Raggae and Rasta (Toy Poodles.) I couldn't take care of them any longer and I didn't want to give them away. I really love those two -- as if they were human children."

"Someone told me about Ms.King and gave me her number. I called her and she responded right away. This wonderful person who I had never met before saw the love I had for my animals and made it possible for us to stay together. She also encouraged me to keep trying to find employment. Often she would call or come by to check on us. Now, about eight months later, I am glad to say we have our own place. We have been in it for 5 months. I am gainfully employed full time and on call part time. Raggae and Rasta are happier than they have been in a long time. In fact Raggae, my oldest, is fat and I have to put him on a diet."

"Had Ms. King not come to my rescue, I don't know how things would have turned out for us. I do know that before her, I was very sad and felt hopeless about my situation. I will never be able to thank you enough for giving me my life back (Raggae and Rasta are my life.) But I promise you that I will always do my best to provide and take care of the 3 of us. I would also like to volunteer at save our pets as much as I can. Again, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. You are a angel."
