The Save Our Pets Food Bank provides free dog and cat food in the metro Atlanta, Georgia area to low income pet owners, senior citizens and people who are having financial difficulties including those facing eviction or foreclosure. The Save Our Pets Food Bank also collects and stores donations of pet food in our warehouse.

Save Our Pets Food Bank has distributed over 4,000 pounds of free dog and cat food this month to low income, financially challenged and senior pet owners in the Atlanta, Georgia area. With the economy in a recession and food and fuel cost at an all time high, Save Our Pets Food Bank's free pet food program is helping many families and individuals with dogs and cats cope with enormously difficult times. Our goal is to help keep the pets and their parents together in their loving homes.

Ensuring that our community's companion animals never go hungry or become abandoned is one the most basic, most critical aspects of Save Our Pets Food Bank's daily mission.

For our clients, the monthly supply of pet food enables them to keep their pets while spending their limited resources on food and living expenses for themselves.

This is a photo of a woman we met recently that was about to be evicted from her home. Her name is Wanda Jefferies. She is ex-military and moved to Atlanta two years ago from Washington. She got a job at the VA library, but was laid off because of reduction in staff and she was one of the last new hires. She had just bought a home and these two little toy poodles that are the love of her life. She is missing her front teeth and she really believe that is why no one will hire her for a respectable job. She finally got a job in cleaning at the Atlanta Airport, but was once again layed off because of all the aviation cutbacks. She now rents one room in a triplex, and the other tenants do not like her dogs...she fell behind on rent so was suppose to have to move out.
Her plans were to move in to the Salvation Army, but they do not allow pets. That is when she called us to see if we could help her find someone who could foster her dogs until she could find a job and get back on her feet.
We went over and met her...such a beautiful person...educated...sensitive and brought her pet food so she could stay with her dogs. We are sure we will be able to help her in many ways including finding a job...and hopefully a better place to live where they are all welcome.

Dogs Deserve Better is an orginazation devoted to making sure dogs are treated humanely and with love.
